Albatross

This passage we have been seeing a lot of albatross flying around the boat. There have been some juveniles, which are brown or black, and some mature ones, which are mostly white with black on their wings. These amazing birds have captivated us all. So I decided to write a poem about them.

Swooping among the rolling waves,
Beautiful, large, and black.
In the air it forever stays,
Until the land calls the Albatross back.

It has great curved wings.
Ones that seldom beat.
Radiant, elegant, graceful things,
With a wingspan that is unique.

Up and down- like the waves below,
The Albatross soars on high.
Tilting its wings to the winds flow,
It has a whole ocean to fly.

  1. Great poem Jack! I can feel the Albatross soaring; even here in Michigan!
