Lights

Lights  – Jack Rabbit

Lights
Lights above and below
The contrast of the lights
Is subtle

To my mind
The stars are bright
They are twinkling lights
Like my father's happy eyes

But the bioluminescence
Are like sparklers on the 4th of July
They seem to snap
A sudden light unlike the stars

On the horizon
I see lightning crack
Illuminating the high clouds
Abrupt and bright without
The booming thunder

The GPS
Has a steady glow
Not twinkling, sparkling, or cracking

All the lights together
Make a beautiful night
As Sila sails to Panama

  1. Well done, Jack! You took a whole bunch of seemingly unrelated images of light and wrapped them into one poetic experience. That's the kind of writing that makes your readers think differently about what they see every day as well. Keep it up!
