Do You Read the s/v Sila Blog?

I have a favor to ask all the readers of the blog. Whether you are an occasional reader or a regular subscriber, we would like to know. I suggested to Porter and Rabbit that they have no idea how many people have read their posts these last three years. We have subsequently decided it would be fun to figure it out and I suspect that the realization will be very gratifying to the boys who have worked so hard on their writing.

It would mean a lot to us if you would take just a minute either to post a comment here or even better, to  send an email to JackRabbit at jackrabbitbarnes@gmail.com stating your name, where you live, how you know us, and how often you read the blog. Thank you! -Molly

  1. We have thoroughly enjoyed following your blog posts! Great job! Both Kate and I have read most blogs and we have shared them with our kids, or discussed them on occasion.

  2. Hello! My name is Jane barber. I met your mom when we worked together on the Teton valley ranch board. I have actually met you boys a couple of times. Once at camp and another time at your Leadville home when I came to dinner with my niece who is an HMI alum. While I didn't read the blog consistently I think I enjoyed at least three fourths of it. I too am a wanderer and now live in three places. I live in Breckenridge, Colorado in the winter, Cleveland, Ohio in the spring and fall and Provincetown, MA on Caoe Cod in the summer. Well done boys and kudos to you both for never taking for granted the marvelous and enriching adventure your parents provided. With respect for all four of you, Jane Barber

  8. Hi Porter and Jackrabbit.

I'm one of your mom's cousins and I've tremendously enjoyed following your blog for the past few years. It's been awesome to vicariously visit all of the cool places that you've been to through your writings and pictures. I loved it every time an email arrived telling me that you had a new post - it usually made my day to read it and share the experience with you.

So thank you! and best wishes for your new adventures on land.

  9. Hi Jack! Erik and I live at Mullett Lake, Michigan. Normally, one would say he or she lives IN a town, but it sounds silly to say we live in Mullett Lake. We're related to you... Erik is your mom's cousin...
Thanks for the many moments of vicarious adventure!

  10. Hey Jack - Hello. Sent you an email but wanted to respond here. Tell your Mom I said, "Go Wings!" I am originally from Michigan but now live half-time in Tucson and the other half in Isla Negra, Chile. Glad to see you have kept a positive attitude. Believe me, you are one lucky young man. The Best is yet to Come!!

  19. Hi, Molly- I'm with Matthieu above; that aptly describes me as well. I definitely enjoy reading your sailing exploits and hope to have some of our own beyond our home waters in Tampa. My name is Ray Dunn and while we currently own three boats (Laser, Olson 30 and our newest acquisition- a late 80's Tartan 37). We hope to employ Colin to help us find either a well maintained Ovni or ideally, a gently used Boreal 47 in the next few years.

    1. Thank you, Ray, for letting us know you are a reader. Best of luck finding a Boreal 47 for sale. The owners I know all LOVE their boats. Cheers
