We are in Denmark

After more than 3 terrific months in Norway, we left Arendal a week ago and sailed overnight to Denmark. After a few hours of motor sailing, the rest of the way was a fast reach and broad reach with Sila eating up the miles in mild seas and fresh winds. Thus far, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time in three different Danish harbors as we make our way south, hoping to be in France in early November.
As we left Arendal in the early afternoon, we enjoyed lunch underway. Here Porter is making himself a cracker with jelly and brunost, part of what we call "Norwegian Lunch" and one of our favorite meals on Sila.

 During a walk on Anholt
Primarily a summer destination, we enjoyed walking on Anholt's empty, beautiful beaches
During our walk, we met a delightful couple from Copenhagen who have spent part of every summer on Anholt for the past 40 years. Christian and Liselotte invited us to their home where we shared dessert, tea, and stories. We learned that Christian is an actor who travels the world portraying Hans Christian Anderson, and whom we have affectionately dubbed "The Brad Pitt of Denmark."
Porter took this picture from Sila, secure in the empty Anholt marina, of the birds lined up on the roof. After two delightful days on Anholt, we had a glorious day of sailing south to Sejerø (roughly pronounced "Sigh-Ahh-Ooo"!) where Porter was given a beer (see his previous post). The next afternoon, we went for a long walk around the west side of the island, which reminded us of northern Michigan with rolling fields, a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, and a combination of farm houses and summer homes.

We could not figure out why this family had chosen to put such a fierce looking dog in front of their egg stand

Now we are tied up in a marina in Kalundborg. If the forecast holds, we will continue south tomorrow as we make our way toward the Kiel Canal.
