Day 3 Bahamas to Panama

After a fast start from Conception Island in the Bahamas, we are now on the far side of the Windward Passage between Cuba and Haiti in light winds ghosting along. Yesterday's noon to noon run was a respectable 155 nm averaging nearly 6.5 knots. We have just over 650 nm to go towards Panama, another five days or so.

The confluence of seas, winds, and currents in the neck of the Windward Passage made for a rough few hours last night. A messy sea state and steady force 6 winds (22-27) with the occasional gut to 30 made for a wild ride. With no moon it was a bit like riding a roller coaster in the dark with random waves being through at us from unpredictable directions. Filled the cockpit once when a wave broke over the stern quarter.

This morning is benign. So it goes at sea.
