Crazy Dolphin

One of the most amazing things happened the other day.  After some wonderful body surfing on Isle d' Oussant, I climbed into the dinghy. As we left the beach, I noticed a fin cutting through the water toward us. My first instinct was "SHARK". My second thought was that the fin belonged to a dolphin. Daddy told us the dolphin had lingered around Sila and then followed him to the beach. Once we returned to Sila, we noticed the dolphin was still hanging around the transom (the back of the boat). It would sit within touching distance for ten minutes.

Sitting on the transom, I noticed its fin was jagged and scars striped its body. Every time it took a breath it closed its blowhole. Once I even felt its breath on my face. I wondered if it had escaped a dolphin show or something of that sort. This experience was strange, uncommon, and very interesting. It made me want to learn more about dolphins and their habits.  – Porter

  1. Porter, I am finally catching up on all your posts, and this is the best so far! I love dolphins! That is so cool that you got to come so close to one. How interesting to think about where that dolphin has been. If you decide to research further, do share! Miss you a bunch! Love, Aunt Emily
