Competence, Courage and Sacrifice

These were the themes at the American D-Day museum and memorial near Omaha Beach. We had a great day in Normandy and each of us learned a lot, most notably about the British construction of the harbor which was to be called Port Winston, as in Winston Churchill. The sheer magnitude of the venture was mighty impressive. The American memorial at Omaha Beach was absolutely beautiful and very moving. On the way home from there, we visited the walled city at St. Malo – a different part of France's history. – Molly
