I Feel Lucky by Jack Barnes
There is always the place
Where my thoughts rarely probe
In the back of my mind
In this place
I file ideas
To be turned over in time
There they float lazily about
Like fluffy clouds
In a bright morning sky
Then when all is relaxed
Just before I slip into dreams
I return to that place
My covers around me
The thoughts spill
Into my sleepy mind
As I lie there
The world is dark
But my mind is bright
Lazily thinking
I remember the memory
From two years ago
When I was ignorant
To the luck I beheld
The fortune that landed me here
A tear rolls down my smiling face
And between my lips
The salty taste of a past memory
Of when I did not know
I was the lucky one
Who is here and now
On a nice sturdy boat
In a little French town
After sailing round the world
What a wonderful p9oem and poet!
